About
Welcome to makedist. I’m Noah, a software engineer at Redpanda
Data. The name of this site, makedist, is an homage to
GNU Automake’s generated make dist
target. That’s some ancient shit by now,
but it represents the power of good tooling and attention to detail that is so
important in systems software. The spirit of that tool has stuck with me through
the years.
In 2018, before jumping over into industry, I finished my PhD in computer science at UC Santa Cruz in the Systems Research Lab working on programmable storage. Details about my research and publications can be found at http://alumni.soe.ucsc.edu/~jayhawk/.
